Endoscope and Camera System Compatibility Checklist

Map every physical, optical, electronic, software, accessory, and processing connection in the proposed imaging chain before treating the system as compatible.

Compatibility is a documented chain, not a single yes-or-no label

A working imaging setup can depend on the exact endoscope, eyepiece or proximal connection, coupler, adapter, camera head, processor, light guide, light source, display, cable, capture device, accessory, software version, and processing instructions. A match at one connection does not confirm the rest of the chain.

Create a model-specific component map and confirm each link in current written documentation. Then assemble and test the exact configuration using the intended settings and workflow. Record any adapter, limitation, required accessory, or unresolved item.

Compatibility layers to verify

Review each layer separately. The evidence should identify exact components and revisions rather than broad brands, product families, or visual similarity.

    Intended-use fit

    Confirm that each component is documented for its proposed role and environment, including any stated limitations or required companion equipment.

    Mechanical connection

    Verify the physical interface, dimensions, locking method, orientation, support, strain relief, and every required coupler or adapter.

    Optical path

    Confirm the endoscope-to-camera and light-source-to-scope paths as complete configurations, including optical couplers, light guides, and adapters.

    Electronic signal path

    Map processor inputs and outputs, cable type, signal format, display input, capture path, external devices, and required power or data connections.

    Software and settings

    Record relevant software or firmware identification, enabled functions, presets, file formats, and any configuration required for connected equipment.

    Care and lifecycle

    Reconcile cleaning, disinfection or sterilization, inspection, maintenance, storage, service, update, and replacement instructions across connected components.

How to verify a proposed configuration

Written evidence and a physical test serve different purposes. Use both, and retain the result for the exact components and versions evaluated.

  1. Step 1

    Inventory every component

    Record manufacturer, product name, model or identifier, revision or version when applicable, connector, cable, adapter, accessory, and current documentation.

  2. Step 2

    Draw every connection

    Create separate optical, illumination, signal, power, data, capture, and processing maps so that no intermediate component remains implicit.

  3. Step 3

    Collect written evidence

    Attach current compatibility statements, instructions, manuals, specifications, or written confirmation that identifies the exact connected components.

  4. Step 4

    Assemble and test

    Connect the proposed configuration, inspect each interface, run the intended startup, imaging, capture, export, shutdown, handling, and storage sequence.

  5. Step 5

    Close the exceptions

    Document every discrepancy, undocumented adapter, version dependency, untested accessory, processing conflict, or support handoff and resolve it before approval.

Compatibility should be recorded for named components, connections, settings, and document revisions. Keep the component map with the instructions, compatibility evidence, physical test notes, original sample files, and support contacts.

Do not extend a documented match to a different model, adapter, version, accessory, or processing method without confirming that new configuration separately.
