Primary Clinical Applications

The workhorse angled scope for adult and older pediatric endoscopic ear surgery (EES). Provides visualization of key middle ear recesses (epitympanum, facial recess, sinus tympani) necessary for comprehensive disease removal and reconstruction.

Clinical Advantages

Offers a good balance between angled viewing capability and image brightness/resolution due to the 3mm diameter. The 110mm length is standard for EES, providing adequate working distance for instrumentation. Widely used and familiar angle for most EES surgeons.

Ideal Procedures

Endoscopic cholesteatoma removal; exploration of middle ear anatomy; ossicular chain reconstruction requiring angled views; tympanoplasty involving attic or posterior recesses; stapes surgery visualization.

Special Considerations

Requires surgeon adaptation to angled viewing and instrument triangulation within the ear canal. While versatile, may not reach the deepest extent of the sinus tympani in all cases (necessitating 45° or 70° scopes for inspection). The most commonly used angled scope in adult EES.
