Primary Clinical Applications

The most frequently used angled scope for office-based nasal endoscopy. Provides visualization around nasal structures with improved patient comfort compared to 4mm scopes. Standard for pediatric sinus procedures in older children.

Clinical Advantages

Combines the benefits of angled viewing with improved patient tolerance. Studies have shown 3mm scopes can actually visualize certain structures better than 4mm in narrow passages, as they can maneuver closer to the target.

Ideal Procedures

Routine office nasal endoscopy; examination of middle meatus and sinus drainage pathways in patients with narrow anatomy; pediatric FESS; post-surgical debridement; nasal polyp evaluation in sensitive patients.

Special Considerations

Compared to 4mm scopes, there is a minor reduction in image brightness, but this is rarely clinically significant with modern light sources. The improved patient comfort often outweighs this slight disadvantage. It is less popular than its 13cm long cousin the P313N30 in the office but might be more useful for those who perform Eustachian tube balloon dilations.
