Primary Clinical Applications

Used for subtle off-axis viewing during adult sinus surgery or complex nasal endoscopy. Helpful for examining structures slightly obscured from a direct 0° view, such as the anterior face of the ethmoid bulla or the uncinate process attachment, without the significant angle change of a 30° scope.

Clinical Advantages

Provides a minimally angled perspective that aids in navigating around slight anatomical curves or obstructions while maintaining near-straightforward orientation and depth perception. Offers a slight advantage over the 0° scope for initial inspection into the middle meatus or around septal spurs.

Ideal Procedures

Initial assessment just lateral to the middle turbinate; visualizing the anterior ethmoid region around subtle anatomical variations; examining the sphenoethmoidal recess with minimal angulation; teaching basic angled scope handling with reduced disorientation.

Special Considerations

A less common angle; many surgeons transition directly from 0° to 30°. Its subtle angle may not provide sufficient visualization for significantly hidden structures. Primarily useful for surgeons who prefer very incremental changes in viewing angle or for specific anatomical niches.
