Primary Clinical Applications

The most versatile and frequently used angled scope for both surgery and office examination. Provides visualization of the middle meatus, frontal recess approach, and sphenoethmoidal recess. When rotated, offers a panoramic view of the nasal cavity.

Clinical Advantages

Balances off-axis viewing capability with manageable orientation. Capable of visualizing structures hidden from direct line of sight while maintaining relatively intuitive handling. Can be rotated to view multiple angles without scope exchange.

Ideal Procedures

Middle meatus work; maxillary sinus ostium identification and enlargement; ethmoid bulla opening; sphenoid approach; routine diagnostic nasal endoscopy; postoperative debridement and follow-up.

Special Considerations

Requires the surgeon to mentally adjust for the 30° offset view. Some rhinologists (UMiami and Rutgers trained) only use this scope (skipping the 0°) for an entire ESS. Instrument navigation is slightly more challenging than with a 0° scope but still manageable for most surgeons.
