Primary Clinical Applications

Essential for visualizing highly angled structures, particularly the frontal sinus and recess. The 70° view allows examination "around the corner" into areas inaccessible with lesser angles. Crucial for thorough evaluation of the frontal and sphenoid sinuses.

Clinical Advantages

Provides access to the most difficult-to-reach areas of the sinus cavities. Allows visualization of the frontal sinus proper after opening the recess, and permits inspection of the anterior wall of the sphenoid sinus.

Ideal Procedures

Frontal sinusotomy; inspection of the frontal sinus cavity; visualization of the sphenoid sinus roof; advanced frontal sinus procedures (Draf II and III); final inspection phase of FESS to ensure complete disease removal from hidden recesses.

Special Considerations

Significantly more challenging to orient and navigate than 30° or 45° scopes. The view is highly angled, requiring substantial mental adjustment. Instrument coordination under 70° visualization is difficult and often requires dedicated training.
